Backstreet Boys Parody Animated.
Sometimes, I just find something so bizzare I need to post it. Case in point, this 2008 minor youtube meme has been animated with 3D anime girls. Reviving a dead meme is nothing new, but the painstaking way the copied the facial expressions is just hilarrious. Especially how the copied all the expressions of the guy in the background. This is something you need to watch.
The girls in the vid are from MikuMikuDance.

3DS Ambassador Program NES Titles Announced for NA and Japan
So, the word came out yesterday about the NES games that were going to come out for the 3DS free to Ambassadors for Japan. Later that day, they confirmed that list would be the same in North America. If you haven't heard by now, the list is this
Super Mario Bros.
Legend of Zelda
Zelda II
Metroid
Balloon Fight
Yoshi
NES Open
Donkey Kong Jr.
Ice Climber
Wrecking Crew
I'd like to go over for a bit my feelings on this list. First off, I'm very happy with it. Several of my favs from Nintendo are on here as well as a couple that I missed the first time around. The only way this list could have been better was if they included a really obscure wild card to wow us, like Clash as Demonhead or something. But few of those title were published by Nintendo, so they wouldn't have been eligible.

PS3 for 249
Well it seems that Sony has dropped the price of PS3 today to $249. This would seem to solidify that it wants to push the 3D thing for this Holiday season; not even setting the PS Vita against the 3DS in North America for the rest of the year. Sure you can get the system with a game like InFamous 2 or Call of Duty for 299, but it's now possible to get a PS3 for what they sold 3DS for just last month. Great Job.

Otakon 2011 report
I had a blast at Otakon.
Otakon was a great experience this year. I only had a chance to go down for the Saturday, but it was still a great time. I got a great bunch of stuff and saw a good number of AMVs. I ended up with some games, a complete collection of GaiGoaGar and J2.
View the pictures here. There was a collection of great costumes this year!

Huge News! 3DS Price Cut and Free Games!
I have to admit I saw this coming. I read the tea leaved and the price of 3DS was coming down in the near future, but I didn't expect it to go all the way down to 170! Nor did I think they would give us early adopters a perk! We get 10 free NES games and 10 free GBA games. If you were going to download them all for 5 buck each (which I was) then you've saved $100 dollars where the late adopters will only be saving $80 after the price drops on Friday August 12th.
And these ain't no 'Baseball' titles either. Mario Kart, Metroid Fusion, Yohsi's Island, Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda!

Antipole DS trailer
Chrono Futurama by spacecoyote
Here is a great pic. I got wind of it from Press the Buttons, a great blog. I was a big Chrono Trigger fan as well as a Futurama fan, so this pic is just pure awesomesauce. Also, it's good to see the Hypno-toad branching out. I love the Hypno-toad. We all love the Hypno-toad.

The Governator - First Trailer [Telestrekoza.com]
Wow. There are no words to describe this. I really thought this was an April fools joke, but this kind of animation is just to expensive to justify a joke. I have to wonder who is backing this.

Unboxing 3DS games
I didn't mean to be harsh on those 3DS boxes. The DS boxes were thick and heavy to an unwarranted degree. More on launch titles.

So You Want to Work in the Video Game Industry
Nonetheless, it does show how unassailable optimism can eventually prevail. I'm stuck in some of the misery described here right now, but I don't mind in the slightest. You see, even the most mundane parts of making a game are creatively fulfilling in their own way. I would recommend you attend some Game Jams every once and a while to get your creative juices out, however.

Playing the 3DS
Here I am a the Game Developers Conference 2011. I have been doing quite well in promoting my services and my latest indie game, Antipole. More on that later. For now, I wanted to share my pressions of what is surely the media darling of this expo, the Nintendo 3DS.
They had a full display with a wide array of all popular titles to play. I played 3 myself. Street Fighter 4, Dead or Alive and an Augmented reality game. Now, here is the scoop on the 3D effects. They work perfectly. There is no blurriness or dizziness to be found. And it you think its too cheesy, you can easily shut it off with a slider that is always in easy reach of your right thumb. The screen moves backward into the distance, things done pop out at you like in Friday the 13th Part 3. It creates its own world behind the screen, like a living museum display. What really blew me away was how beautiful and fast the graphics were. As I was playing Dead or alive, I would go one round with each opponent. Within seconds, both the new opponent and background were loaded, there was barely a moment to breath between levels! The fact that they could load so much data so fast was incredible! You need to be an engineer to find the differences between these graphics and current get, and they load faster than the consoles!
Even without the 3D gimmick, this is a must have for its speed and graphics power. And it's really lite!

Antipole - Indie Game Released Today
I was the art director and did most all of the art, except for this cover art that was done partially by Gabriel Lamberty. He's one of the best comic artists I know.
I love the look and style of the game. It is my virgin effort into console game art, but I will stand by this forever.

MagFest 9 - Review
The other word of the convention was "OOOOAAARGH!!!". Note the spelling. You could not travel more than fifty feet without hearing someone yell this word. It relates to the sound. It refers to the sound Colossus makes when he activates his mutant power in X-Men: the Arcade Game. This is available now on XBLA, so anyone can play now. Apparently someone made this sound during the closing ceremonies last year, and it became the running gag for this fest. They even named the arcade after it.

New Sailor Moon Game !
Sailor Moon: La Luna Splende
Bandai Europe, for the Nintendo DS! Good thing I know Italian! This is gonna be awesome. Remember that the DS (not DSi) isn't region coded! Sweat!
It seems to be from screen shots to be a basic retro-style platformer, with multiple playable characters. Fine by me! It will retail for 29.99 euros. March 11, 2011. Only in Italy.
